Mama cat (Missy &#; a little black and white tuxedo cat) arrived in our driveway during a terrible heat wave on July 16. She was lying half under our car and very weak. She had some teeth broken off and had obviously been leading a difficult life. My husband picked her up and brought her to the front door so we could give her some food and water. She was a very frail so I took her to the emergency vet clinic in Hamilton. After examining her the vet decided to do an x-ray and determined that she was at least 45 days pregnant with two kittens. We decided she should come home and occupy our guest room to await the arrival of her babies. On July 24, I went in to check on her. She was in the box and a few minutes later the first kitten was born. A gorgeous little Calico cat with beautiful markings. We named her Daisy. About 4 hours later, Daisy was joined by her handsome little Tuxedo brother Abner.
Daisy is the more serious of the two copying mama sometimes even acting like mama to her brother Abner. She approaches most things with caution at first. She is also very playful loving to wrestle with Abner and engage in games of chasing each other &#; boy are they fast! Abner is a bit more of a clown. He is a very curious and loves to climb to make new discoveries. Daisy and Abner are still quite attached to their mama but even more so to each other. We call them bookends because they are always together whether engaged in playful wrestling and other activities or curled up together sleeping. They do everything together. It is my hope that someone will have room for the two of them. The bond between these two is so strong and they provide great company for each other.
